Round 1 proved to be tricky for most of the field with only 25 golfers shooting under par. Adam Hadwin leads the way on -4 with Rory McIlroy (87 selections) only 1 shot behind him.

After a late withdrawal from Abraham Ancer and a no show from Paul Casey, it was over before it even begun for 38 entries (including 2 of my own – again!!) who will all be refunded (please can the entries with either golfer respond to my email yesterday with bank details – only 12 outstanding).

As a result, the total entries have reduced to 315 and therefore reducing the prize pot to £2,850.

There are 7 other entries who are on -4, 8 entries on -3, 29 entries on -2 and 40 entries on -1 so it is a tightly bunched field.

The entries with Gooch (11), Garcia (4), Herbert (3), Fox (3), Munoz (7), Na (12), Si Woo Kim (15), Henley (5), Oosthuizen (12), Grace (2), Straka (1) and Mickelson (2) will all be sweating today as they all scored +4 or worse and look like the missing the cut based on yesterday’s scoring but only time will tell!
