JJ Spaun has the lead in the US Open after carding -4 in the first round. Scoring proved very tricky with only 10 golfers out of 156 scoring under par, with some big names in danger of missing the cut.
Todd Lunt is our leader in LMS, he’s currently on -2. Only 6 entries out of 1,514 are currently under par which shows how difficult it has been! With scoring proving so tricky, there will be plenty of changes to the leaderboard over the next 3 days.
At the other end of the table, Matthew, Mark, Lee and JP all had horror rounds! They’re definitely not going to be in the running for the prize pot as they’re 25 shots behind Todd, they’re all currently on +23.
Thankfully there were no withdrawals before everyone had teed off. As a result, the prize pot remains at £13,625, which is split as follows:
1st – £10,200
2nd – £2,725
3rd – £700

With the US Open being the competition who cut the highest percentage of entries it’s going to be a brutal cut, especially with some popular picks struggling in Round 1. The entries with Scottie Scheffler – 4 (626), Bryson DeChambeau – 8 (313), Shane Lowry – 40 (219), Sepp Straka – 50 (210), Harris English – 90 (201), Joaquin Niemann – 35 (132) and Tommy Fleetwood – 35 (124) will all be sweating today as they are in danger of missing the cut.

Shot of the Day
There was only one shot in contention for shot of the day. Patrick Reed hit this stunning shot on the 4th hole. The result…. only the 4th albatross in US Open history!
