Rickie Fowler became the first player to shoot 62 at the US Open in a round that featured 10 birdies (again, a first). The record didn’t stand for long as Xander Schauffele also hit -8 meaning it’s currently tied at the top of the leaderboard.
Scoring has been much easier than the PGA Championship, after Round 1 only 50 LMS entries were under par, for this competition it’s 348! Although scoring has been better there is still a huge range of scores, Ste Tinsley is leading the way on -18. At the other end of the table Kevin Bethell and Todd Lunt are both +15!
The withdrawal replacement (WR) option came into play for 14 of the entrants due to a number of the entries on our original list not qualifying for the event. There were 2 entries who didn’t have the WR button ticked so they were refunded their entry fee.

As a result, we have decided to leave the prize pot untouched meaning the prize pot split is still:
1st – £5,750
2 – £1,500
3 – £400
Top 10
After Round 1, the top 10 is as follows:
1st – Ste Tinsley -18
2nd – William Fisher 2 -17
3rd – Steven Fearns -16
3rd – Sam Duckworth
5th – Thomas Kelly -14 (-8, -5)
6th – Kristian Leith 2 -14 (-8, -3, -3)
6th – Liam Greaves -14 (-8, -3, -3)
8th – James McNally -13 (-8, -8)
9th – Jack Heston 2 -13 (-8, -5)
10th – David Carr 2 -13 (-8, -3, -2)
10th – Neil Hardy -13 (-8, -3, -2)
10th – Matthew Garside -13 (-8, -3, -2)
The current projected cut is +1 meaning there are going to be plenty of nervous entrants as the following entries are all currently above that mark. Tommy Fleetwood (150), Justin Rose (122), Tyrrell Hatton (105), Sahith Theegala (73), Jordan Spieth (60), Adam Scott (56) and Patrick Reed (47). They all have a battle on their hands to make the cut so will be interesting to see where we stand after Round 2.

Shot(s) of the Day
There’s only been three instances of two aces on the same hole in the same round in the US Open, so it would be harsh to only select one of them as shot of the day!
Matthieu Pavon was the first to hit the hole in one, knocking it past the hole, using the slope and spin to guide it back into the hole.

This was followed by Sam Burns who played a similar shot but landed it closer to the hole.

We will send out an update after Round 2 tomorrow morning.
Best of luck,
